DeSci doesn't have to use any Blockchain tho, imho.

It's more about the process than the tool.

Oh you are absolutely right. I didn't mean that they are not using blockchains at all. I just wanted to point out that it is not necessary to use a blockchain to be DeSci 🙂

I'd say it depends on what you see under the DeSci umbrella. 

In my view, there are many areas of science where the use of onchain rails has clear benefits - e.g. anything working with personal data, health data, and research data. Basically, datasets that need to be private yet accessible for anyone upon approval.
