Overheard a commercial for a medication while my roommate was watching TV. It said “don’t stop taking ___ unless your doctor tells you to” but this indirectly is already telling you to not stop taking said medication. Be aware of the subliminal messaging your brain is being trained to believe.

If the medication is for conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, which require continuous use, using this type of advertising might not be problematic. The goal is to ensure patients don't stop taking their medication without consulting their doctor.

The problem with something like diabetes requiring continuous use, at least in type 2 diabetes, is that that’s not true. Diabetes is an effect of your lifestyle choices, not a cause. If you changed how you live, an example being gaining muscle and getting a better diet, you literally could get rid of the disease

Type 1 diabetes always requires insulin, while some cases of type 2 diabetes cannot be managed without medication even with lifestyle changes to keep blood sugar levels under control. In any case, I believe you agree that there are chronic diseases that require ongoing medication. Or..? 😳
