Overheard a commercial for a medication while my roommate was watching TV. It said “don’t stop taking ___ unless your doctor tells you to” but this indirectly is already telling you to not stop taking said medication. Be aware of the subliminal messaging your brain is being trained to believe.

If a medication is not actively making you better or enabling your normal functioning, then yeah stop taking it, don’t just wait for a doctor to tell you, because they won’t. Be aware of what you hear, and make conscious decisions not believe what isn’t logical.

If the medication is for conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, which require continuous use, using this type of advertising might not be problematic. The goal is to ensure patients don't stop taking their medication without consulting their doctor.
