Last year, I put a discarded pineapple top in water. Today, as it sits on my windowsill, I appreciate the lessons learned:

1. trash can indeed be treasure.
2. with enough time and attention, even the most unlikely situation can improve.
3. never underestimate the underdog.
4. for astonishing results, reach deep and stretch toward the sun.
