One of the major questions of our time: why do so many people choose to do jobs that they clearly don't enjoy? I'm not talking abt circumstances where they don't have a choice. I mean otherwise affluent people w no meaningful risk of losing food or shelter who show up everyday to do something they hate. What's up?

A few things come to mind: Risk management - the uncertainty of retooling, switching jobs, giving up the security of the current job. Sunk cost - giving up the potential benefit of institutional knowledge, networks and senority. No Clear Path Forward - a plan that feels doable and is supported by all the facets of someone's life might not easily materialize. Lack of Experience - and mentors who can support the mindset and actions to choose different. The majority of workers don't like their job. Seems like settling has somehow become a norm.
