I don’t necessarily need their number. I just need to be able to reach out casually when I want.

is it the platform that makes them a contact? or would having all of their phone numbers in your contacts do just as well?

What’s missing to delete them? Are you saying there are contacts you stay in touch with through FB/LI/TW that you don’t have their contact in your phone’s Contacts app?

Totally.  Deleted 14+ years of FB profile/history and changed my life 0%.

Same. Already deleted FB and would replace Twitter without a second thought once enough contacts join me here

I use email to keep in contact with family and friends, and leave fb, li, etc fallow so people can still reach me if they want/need to. Also means I prevent anyone cybersquatting on my identity.
