there's this persistent idea that making the memecoin trading experience safer and/or more user-friendly is the key consumer unlock

imo this has it exactly opposite. 

the primal fear of getting rugged -- the danger of being on the frontier -- is actually the core, irreplaceable part of the experience

yeah I dunno why anyone thinks average consumers are ever gonna trade memecoins lol
