Scientists have discovered the influence of pets on the health of the human brain Pets not only bring joy and warmth to their owners, but also benefit their health, in particular, such an important organ as the brain. In cat and dog owners, especially if the pet was adopted at least five years ago, scientists found a slower decline in cognitive functions in the aging process compared to people without animals. The study was conducted by scientists from the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor and the University of Florida. They studied data from 1,369 elderly Americans, whose average age was 65. 53% of the subjects had a cat or dog at home, while 32% became their owners at least five years ago.
