Nachi Waterfall Japan Nachi Falls is the tallest waterfall in the country, dropping 133 meters (430 feet) into a fast-flowing river. But the falls are second in beauty to the Shinto shrine of Nachi Taisha, which is said to be over 1,400 years old. Built to honor the kami (spirit god) of the falls, the shrine is one of several Buddhist and Shinto religious sites built around the falls.
