You know that feeling when something bad almost happens but somehow everything turns out fine? Instead of just being relieved and grateful, I sometimes get stuck thinking about how bad it could have been. I start imagining all the worst-case scenarios even though nothing actually went wrong and end up stressing myself out over something that didnā€™t even happen. Is it just me, or does anyone else do this too?

first step is to recognize it, donā€™t drive looking through the rearview mirror, keep your eyes ahead.

i adopted a mantra a long time ago: thereā€™s no such thing as ā€œshould haveā€ or ā€œcould haveā€

i just realize that ā€œi should haveā€ or ā€œi could haveā€ is just magical thinking that has no relevance to where i am now and headed forward in time. those statements have no value, i cannot go back and rerun the experiment, so i can just stop obsessing on them.
