How are people feeling about the channels change?

Honest feedback requested!

Love the update but what about new users? They can only cast in their home feed which no one sees without followers and when they try to reply or interact, their replies often end up in Show More since they’re not part of any channels.

On top of that many channels require holding a specific NFT, token or esubscription just to join. That’s a big ask for someone who’s already paid a subscription fee just to use Warpcast and is trying to get started.

This update is great for existing users—we’ve found our place and built connections. But what about newcomers? Aren’t we trying to bring more people in and help them find a community too?

Yeah for us, it’s worth it because we see the value. But for a new user… ehhh, I’m not so sure they’d feel the same way

Half agree , half disagree , at least in our culture we have an unwritten rule :

To me it's like paying a conservation fee when visiting a nature reserve. A bit of skin in the game makes you take things a bit more seriously. You still get to access the content, you just don't get to add to it without a small commitment. At least that's the theory, I do want to see how it plays out 😅

yeah but this might discourage a lot of new voices before they get the chance to learn and engage

Best I can guess is
1) they consume (learn)
2) they reply (participate)
3) they cast into void
4) they learn about channels

And while I’d have been against this before the change, now that it’s happened I can see the value of how it might curate content creators

Owners and moderators of non gated channels must dig into the show more to discover new potential members. That's what I'll be doing and hope every other user does until we have a better way.

How will replies work from non-members with the new channel model?

1. Only members can create a new cast in a channel

2. Anyone can reply to a cast in a channel

3. On Warpcast, member replies will appear "above the fold" and non-members will be below the fold in "Show more replies"

4. However, if the original cast author likes or replies a cast from a non-member—or a channel mod likes or replies—the cast will appear above the fold.

5. This balances the membership model for channels with the ability for discovering new people, highlighting their reply and potentially inviting them to the channel.

6. Since you can have up to 10 moderators in a channel, including helpful bots, we expect that people will build bots that help surface interesting replies for non-members (and possibly even auto-invite them). Developers will get creative.

7. Ultimately, your channel, your rules.

Interesting this comment Dan, new users will still be able to cast on Home and respond wherever they want, but they don't land in "show more replies," right?

I feel like Farcaster is designed specifically for a certain group of people. Similar to last year, when only a select few had access to the app and all the perks were reserved for them, this update seems to show the same thing. 
I just don’t understand why they wanted more users!!!!🙃

i'm sure this will be sort out in next few days but for now you can use channels like reply guys or else .and you can tip under any cast

I don't have the membership in any channels! Even one!
So how I have allowance for DEGEN, LP, RARE and... but I can't make a post in those channels...

I think it can be confusing and frustrating while being fascinating!

Warpcast has become a costly application. If newcomers want to be seen, they must buy at least $2,000 in fan tokens or activate $1,000 degen allowance . The old ones find these costs economical, because warpcast has returned these costs to them.
