This reminds me of a recent article about the discovery of ancient rock carvings at the bottom of the amazon river. It's interesting to see the artwork of people from a couple of thousand years ago, but concerning when I think about the connection to climate change.

Yea ditto. I know a couple of authors of previous IPCC reports and both are now heavily involved in activism with the XR offshoot Scientist Rebellion. Obviously every fraction of a degree's warming we can avoid is less bad, but the range of outcomes now seem to run from bad to worse. No likely good scenarios.

Nobody I’ve met in climate science believes we’ll stay within 2°C of warming by 2100, let alone 1.5°C. We’re supposed to reduce GHG by 43% by 3020, and the current NDCs put us on track to 3% (+/- 3 p.p.).

We’re at the tail end of the fuck around era. We’re less than a decade away from the find out part.
