One thing I love to capture is night photography. In this thread, I'll share a bit about how I capture and edit my night photographs.

It all starts with a plan: What am I trying to capture at any given time, and when is the best time to do so? Let's dive in. Later, I'm doing an AMA, so if you have questions, keep that in mind. :)

WHAT'S IN MY BAG 📸

I'm a Nikon shooter and in the Nikon Creator family. My current setup is close to what I would ever need on a trip. This is what I use for my photography and timelapses.

Nikon Z8 & Nikon Z7 II
Nikon Z 14-24 mm f/2.8 S
Nikon Z 20 mm f/1.8 S
Nikon Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S
Nikon Z 70-200 mm f/2.8 S
Nikon Z 400 mm f/4.5 S 

I also use RRS Tripod for my main camera and Sirui Travel tripod for the secondary. And the ND Filter is from Nisi. I have a Tenba backpack I use for all of the gear.

That's a good question. I think it's just fascinating in the fact that it's challenge every time and also you are quite not sure how the photograph will look like beforehand as you only see it after on the back of the camera how the stars or northern lights look. It has a certain mystery in it which I enjoy!

Hi Mikko. Just saw all your amazing night photography. What was the first reason that you chose Night Photography rather than the normal day Photograph, what was the biggest struggle that you encounter while taking the photo at night.

NFT creator & collector

There are a few spots in southern Finland I visit often on the coast, because there is little light pollution. Also I do enjoy Finnish Lapland at night, because it's remote and you can see the northern lights quite often!

Do you have any favorite locations or subjects for your night photography?

Thanks! You mean as an NFT? My ath nft sold for 3.5 eth. It's the shipwreck. And my current highest priced is the First Snow for 1.5eth. 

My future plan is to keep on creating and documenting the world in the way I see it.

Multidisciplinary photographer.
Areas of interest - long exposure, minimalist, fine art architecture,  architectural street and landscape photography.

I would love to go and shoot the Bolivian desert.

Do you have a place or frame in your mind that you would like to photograph but haven’t had a chance to?

It's all about the light, so make sure you are out capturing photographs at the right time, which might be at the dawn or at sunset :)

Any tips for me to capture good photo  by mobile phone 🙂

I enjoy Lightroom Classic on desktop myself :)

What software do you recommend for editing night shots?

A tech-savvy visionary, passionate about blockchain innovation and the future of decentralized finance. 

It has its own challenges definitely! Mainly weather and light pollution, and also finding something interesting to have in the foreground. :)

Is it challenging to click pictures at night?

I just got a new lens which I'm going to be using the 20 mm f/1.8 Nikon Z lens. I have mostly used before this the 14-24 mm f/2.8 Z lens. :)

What equipment do you use for your night photography shots?

That's a great question. I think the most important thing is to keep your vision fresh, no matter how long you will be doing the photography thing, you have to keep on learning no matter what. :)

Not using anything automatic. It's the timing indeed!

perfect timing, will you always wait for the right time to take a picture or are you using an automatic camera?

Sure it's important, to balance the exposure and remove noise etc!

How important is post processing in night photography?

Don’t Eat with the people U won’t starve with 💀🖤

Take photographs of everything, and find what excites you the most and keep on doing it!
