Still on a road trip… another thought: what if we paused upfront funding for a year and only did retro with proof of work? There would still be enough teams with plenty of runway and true fans & creators would still be sticking around, arguably grinding harder to make it work. And collaborating. Thought it could be an interesting season.

What if someone builds something the DAO doesn’t find useful or want to fund? I worry about there being a general expectation of retro. May breed bitter builders when they get nothing or suggestions to lower the retro. Not sure what’s best here. But I do appreciate builders building upfront at no cost to the DAO.

Perhaps worth considering framing it as a reward and not retro funding. Which I’d hope for builders to consider a business case from inception with the award being the sweet cherry on top and incentive to keep building and/or qualify for upfront funding…
