We have strong ties to Guam here, incredibly patriotic, they see themselves as Americans, off the chart number of them have served in the military. Only problem is that outside of being a military outpost not a huge number of positives for the US. Would like to see them get their due, but hard to imagine.

I'm with you 100% on wanting them to achieve this. I've operated branches out there for a couple of years, my teams were wonderful. They deserve it, some of the nicest people you can imagine. Maybe the pressures around security in the Pacific will be a motivator that gets this done. Would definitely make Samoa a little antsy though. 😂

idk how guam would feel about it but i think the idea of creating one US state out of Guam + Northern Mariana Islands makes more sense than Guam as a state on its own i’d assume guam would be capital tho

Nice Mike, I think that is a great idea. Problem with all of these islands though are the growing issue around rising sea levels. As States the Federal gov't would require them to render aid to the population way beyond what they would be mandated to as a territory. Its those liabilities that I'm wary of but collectively, their value as strategic outposts (military) or resources (fishing rights) or balance in the senate (very blue regions) could be worth it if you included the region. LIke how you are thinking about it, informed...for a mainlander. 💛 🤙 😂 💛

I think might be concerns about maintaining their different unique cultural identities within a merged state
