+1 hardcore history also tho: you can find great university lectures on youtube for whatever niche part of history you are rabbitholing into. this is what i do

That's a good tactic. Search Amazon for the most starred / bestselling book on the topic. Search author's name on YouTube. Listen to the 1 hour lecture version of the book.
