I’m seeing a lot of debate about whether Geth users should be made whole in case a bug/exploit leads to mass inactivity leaking/slashing of their nodes. I don’t think that’s even relevant At that point, Ethereum’s credibility as a reliable settlement layer would be dead in the water SWITCH AWAY FROM GETH NOW

And as a corollary, people argue that one can avoid such risks by not staking. In reality, if 80% of all Geth-staked ETH got leaked/slashed, even hodlers will be running for the exits. Yes, the total supply would shrink, but so would the price if the entire project is deemed a failure. So this is a risk to hodlers too

This will be a systemic risk of epic proportions, the community really needs to push this conversations to less of fear mungering to more of practical actionable steps. There is a reason geth is the most preferred execution client, it is battle tested.

There’s some good guidance on how to switch clients in r/ethstaker, solutions like dappnode make it easier too, and influential voices on X are now pressuring the LST node operators to switch (they can move the share of clients far more than solo stakers).
