The University of Michigan’s preliminary Consumer Sentiment Index for March dropped to 57.9, falling short of the expected 63.1 and the previous reading of 64.7. Additionally, one-year inflation expectations surged from 4.3% to 4.9%, while five-year inflation expectations rose from 3.5% to 3.9%.
