The U.S. will impose a baseline tariff rate of 10% on all countries, with reciprocal tariff rates set at half of each country’s respective rate.
President Trump has announced specific reciprocal tariff rates on a range of countries, including 49% on Cambodia, 46% on Vietnam, 37% on Bangladesh, 36% on Thailand, 34% on China, 32% on both Taiwan and Indonesia, 31% on Switzerland, 30% on South Africa, 26% on India, 25% on South Korea, 24% on both Japan and Malaysia, 20% on the European Union, 17% on Israel, and 10% on the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Singapore.
Reciprocal tariffs will take effect on April 9 at 12:01 AM. A senior White House official stated that additional sector-specific tariffs are planned for semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and potentially critical minerals, which will not be covered under the new regime. The U.S. will continue to exempt Canada and Mexico from tariffs under the USMCA. 0 reply
