Yesterday I stumbled upon this (fairly old, but seemingly still valid) thread of Nikita: https://x.com/nikitabier/status/1481118406749220868?s=46 It made me a little more patient with Farcaster as a newbie. I acknowledge that at this point I am the one trying to get into the crypto community and not the crypto community trying to get me to join. I see Farcaster as a busy hive that is building and testing how a decentralised social network can be most useful and create most momentum before „actively inviting“ the masses. It would be cool tho if there was a place that made it easier to connect with other newbies and create little subcommunities of learners, because I am sure there are many people in my position. I am very happy there are normie channels now, it makes it easier than last time i tried to get into Farcaster a years ago 😄

💭 Obviously frames should be called Mini Apps. Who called them frames and why? and what is V2 even? What did V1 look like? Mini Apps is a word that I wouldn’t question when getting started in Farcaster, it’s self explanatory. UX↗️ @deodad thanks for the poll!

Frames sparked a ton of creativity and showcased what a composable social feed could look like. Frames v2 were a completely new standard that combined in feed interactivity with fully-fledged web applications. The term itself has become confusing since it refers to multiple things within Farcaster. It is also unrecognizable to developers outside the ecosystem. One idea is to Frames -> Mini Apps. This will reduce term confusion and make it legible to huge ecosystem of developers working on applications in ecosystems like Telegram and World. What say you?
