When buying a camping stove for mountaineering, consider the weight, fuel type, and performance in wind and cold. Lightweight stoves using isobutane are great for most hikes, but for high altitudes or freezing temps, liquid fuel stoves perform better. Also, make sure it has stable support on uneven ground and an easy-to-control flame.

It really depends on the environmental conditions and the brand of the product. However, in subzero and cold temperatures where gas canisters can't be used, liquid fuel can be the best alternative for boiling water. Depending on the surrounding temperature, dimensions, volume, and weight, it could be a reliable option.
