How many people agree secretly with this channels take? How many people see opportunity and are watching the opportunity be passed by? Merkle says we are in the minority and so our take bears no weight. But what if channels were cultivated to enable long form discussion. So much here.

in all honesty, it's their product and this could still be considered beta. imo channels are friction to normies. I'm sure they've thought it out and spent a lot of time they are cool but we simply just need more people, every channel is a spam fest. best posters don't ever use them unless ironically more channel focus won't bring new ppl. the potential for crypto natives is tapped. we need new blood

playing devil's advocate- if there is opportunity, where is it /memes /tabletop /music and *cough* /openventures have tried the full span of ambitious sustainable business approaches passion project channel operators have felt deeply hurt, their efforts and contributions too lightly regarded when other stuff happens like shadowbans and tips invalidation a few continue to evolve their approaches, like /football /mxjxn and my own /p2p /sasquatch but they're not there yet 1/2

Have spent more time on channels than any feature in the entire history of Farcaster. Unsolved problems 1. Moderation is a lot of work 2. If you reduce moderation work, then new users can't participate 3. If you make easy for new users, moderation is too much work for most people 4. No moderation, channel is a bad UX for people and you can't recommend much content from it
