idk who needs to hear this but product design is closer to engineering and strategy than graphic design and brand

As a product designer, I fully agree with this. Product design is business + strategy. Brand design requires an entirely different skillset + experience. I, along with most PDs I know, love working with brand + graphic designers, seeing and respecting their process + craft. Lots of respect on both ends.
