So I’ve been comparing releasing music to launching a product. (For no reason whatsoever) Today’s pondering was on analytics. Obsessing over analytics in the first few days is like trying to judge a movie by the first 5 minutes. But in music, it’s the first days that shape the trajectory, due to the ephemeral shelf-life of tracks. Basically, after a month your “product” is obsolete unless it turns into a hit. On the other hand, early data is an illusion for actual product launches. It's influenced by launch-day hype, early adopters, and the fact that most people aren't even aware of what you're shipping. Quick verdict: My brain did not align the music/product pair 💩

I agree. For some reason kept comparing 🤷♂️ P.S. Keep in mind that I am talking about self-releasing music here.
