Apple's next innovation will be a smart home device

The company will present the device in March. The product will be a standalone device without the need to connect an iPhone, will receive its own operating system and will be controlled by a touch-sensor and Siri. This is reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The tablet-like product, codenamed J490, has a 6-inch screen, a camera for FaceTime calls, and even a battery. The interface scales automatically as you get closer to the device.

The insider describes the new operating system as something between watchOS and iOS on Standby. The familiar home screen with widgets is in place. Safari, Apple Music, and a notes app are pre-installed on the device, but there's no Appstore.
