@samuellhuber I was off by two months from when I thought it was going to happen (although in April it did briefly spike due exactly to spam), but...

Off on the timing, right on the assessment: blob fees are now becoming more expensive than calldata.

This is similar to what occurs with outpricing transactions, at times there is spam which may make the price temporarily spike for inclusion. 
But rationally you do it for so long with any transaction it would cost a lot of money. But for now gas prices are so low it doesnt really make a difference
