I've seen this in Ireland & New Zealand. Science funding in those countries focus on STEM. Other countries (Finland, Netherlands) have a broader remit "science for society" inc. humanities etc.

We need social & humanities, bcoz we aren't robots & culture matters. 

Scientists need broader incentives, not just citation

Also a sophomoric assertion about markets valuing things that have value
