The entire H1B backlash seems to have started because Sriram Krishnan was appointed to a job in the Trump administration. He didn’t actually do anything, and the job that he’s being appointed to is about AI and has nothing to do with immigration policy. It’s a very hysterical controversy.

He tweeted about removing the immigration cap per nation. That's my understanding of where this all started. But yeah he has no say in the matter, but Vivek doubling down on it makes it more problematic I think.

Is this the conversation that was spurred by Vivek's tweet or did something start this before that?

It’s actually been a thing with conservatives for a long time. I have been saying this issue for the last ten years saying it’s modern day indentured servitude. I think X’s algorithm really did its purpose and design by creating chaos. It also highlighted a program that like 90% of ppl didn’t realize it existed. It was more that AI needs more engineers and he will communicate that to the cabinet members that control immigration and lifting caps would be his recommendation.. it’s not that he has direct influence on immigration but can recommend it to who controls it cause we need to beat China at it. Or maybe i am gay and retarded so I don’t know what I am talking about.

Even funnier when you consider all of these appointees and new made up departments (DOGE) are going to do absolutely nothing. This is almost certainly the most we’ll be hearing from them
