Per Jared Szuba of Al-Monitor: The Pentagon has approved deployment of additional forces to the Middle East today to defend Israel and US troops: - USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt, currently in the Gulf of Oman - An additional fighter squadron to the Middle East - Additional ballistic missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers to the Mediterranean and Gulf regions - Steps to ready deployment of additional land-based ballistic missile defenses This is a serious deployment of personnel and force projection power to the region. I would not be shocked to learn we are at war within the next 48 hours though I hope that an exit from this situation can be found. On a personal level after 20 years of war in the region with no success I’m not in favor of yet another even larger one.
