Qs that arise for me: 1) What’s the root problem? 2) What’s a model nation? It seems it’s nations with a: - denser, walking culture - smaller desire to move far for uni/ jobs - work that encourages real time off Root causes: - Infrastructure, urban planning - Work Culture Tech= catalyst not root problem

The USA is a perfect storm: - car culture (out of sight, out of mind), suburban life - work culture that promotes ambition, money, success above all - very limited vaca (less time to visit family, friends, having to choose over that vs a new experience.) - melting pot, young culture; traditions not as strong to ground
