omg i am beyond interested in this story. so many questions. where'd you get the new PCB? i remember you warned me about fast-charging mine, and i've been super careful with it since. isn't this your second or third Zen? and how was the process?

haha, i had contacted darryl about a year ago about getting a replacement pcb after my last one died. eventually he got one to me, but the wait time was so long i had to move on to a ferris sweep after my sweep died, i dug out the new pcb and all the dead zens, performed the 3x5 mod (snap off outside column, solder the bodge wire), and transferred working parts frankenstein-style until it worked! so this is technically my fourth zen i think i've cracked the charging situ tho, only charging from my laptop DISCONNECTED FROM EVERYTHING ELSE. the sweep died because of a surge from the outlet, so going with completely isolated system now

lmaoooooo incredible, what a journey 😂 glad you figured it out, hopefully without too much downtime! can't believe so many keebs have burned out on you! absolutely terrifies me to think about mine dying, i love it so much. lol, maybe i oughta to start being even MORE careful about power, i hadn't even thought about a wall surge...
