The privacy implications of doing this across many partner apps like this makes me a bit worried But the onboarding UX of even adding meaningful info is overwhelming enough to make the worry mute lol

Yeah we need a privacy preserving solution. I think this is possible without a frontier model. A lot of what these companions do is pretty basic.
