Don't buy farcaster accounts. You might get rugged. 

They were designed to be easy to use in a social app, not to be traded like nfts. Some tradeoffs we made will make it harder to trade them safely. 

For example, someone can set a recovery address, transfer the account to you and reclaim it back a few hours later.

The whole promise of Farcaster is that I have total ownership over my account. Why not let the market decide what a FID is worth? 

We don’t encourage users to trade without the contract for the exact reason you described.

A warning from me about security risks doesn’t change that.

Selling an account, it’s fname, followers and thus its social graph, although should be allowed, will lead to scammers using sold accounts to scam users. 

As it’s already happening, we should have a history of account ownership on the profile page.

The beauty of it all being on chain is that we can easily tell if an account has been sold/transferred, so in theory with the right tools built selling accounts will be obvious/known
