At fist automanufacturers made similar arguments against requiring seatbelts in cars. Imagine what we’d be saying about our great/grandparents if that line of thinking had prevailed.

True AGI actually doesn't concern me right now. We’re not as close as the media suggests. But the idea of guardrails not being in place well before AGI exists, is horrifying. There should be no retroactive recognition of AGI having emerged. It should be carefully developed in controlled environments.
