I have a rule that I only smoke cigarettes when I'm in the US. I'm currently in the US, and just had a very nice encounter bumming a smoke and a light from a stranger. The middle class has failed to fill the social void created when smoking became taboo.

it's pretty funny you say this bc my American friends have visited Paris and smoked here even though they never smoke in the US
