This is an excellent summation of this situation, the one thing it leaves out is that this is how it has always gone. There’s never been an instruction manual, not at least one that contains all of the actual shared experience, tacit knowledge and cultural cohesion that was necessary to put the thing together in the first place.

And this is how the cycle begins again. We didn’t know how the old thing worked in the first place, and even if we did maybe we might not be built for it. Nothing says the new thing has to be better than the old one, but the people living it don’t know any better and l will at least have fresh memories for who and how it came about, and have some understanding of how to interact within the new thing.
