The U.S. has long boasted the world’s largest fleet of nuclear power plants, which guarantees Washington’s influence over the International Atomic Energy Agency. 

But China is building more reactors than anyone else at a pace the U.S. cannot even fathom.

Based on that chart it appears that the US can very much fathom that pace, though we're not doing it currently
