I did hear the RAH concert but it was a while back. Still remember seeing AB live in Manchester some 10 years ago. Awesome show with Black Stone Cherry to boot, so double the fun!

my top three are AB III, One Day Remains, and recently Fortress was knocked out by Pawns & Kings, but the former is second-close

I may get flack for this, but I think Tremonti maybe ran out of ideas for the solo in this track; there's some resemblance to patterns from Blackbird and ABIII. that said, Pawns & Kings is overall a solid record with great production

there's something refreshing and uplifting about tunes like this one. great songwriting on this record too, likely in my top three favorite Alter Bridge albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3XEo-4JV4s

Anything jazzy I put on out loud gets a weird look of “wtf is this shit?” My guilty pleasure is Creed, and I don’t give a flying fuck in the world what people think about that.

There’s another angle: PRC doesn’t play fair. They subsidize absolutely everything to flood the market, exploit local rules against their competitors (look how they bullied VW into cooperation in EU). Will this help US people buy less Chinese-made goods? Only if “made in USA” is competitively priced (assuming it’s even available), or of superior quality. That said, electronics market will likely suffer regardless.

Protectionist economic policies are generally short term publicity stunts, that in the long term will do more harm than good and there’s plenty of real world examples: just look at what happened during the rise of Japanese car imports during 1970s-80s. It made cars more expensive for US consumers, US manufacturers less competitive (quality suffered), and in the end, Japanese went into luxury market and started kicking ass there too (Lexus). To me, the import tariffs are the worst approach to economic protectionism. You wanna be more competitive? Ask what’s holding local businesses back and then do everything to ease those burdens, but who am I to question Trump’s economic advisors? I’m just some dev, who’s not even American.

From my personal experience, local does mean better quality. Not everyone time, though most of the time. But it comes at a cost. Not everyone can bear this cost. And there wouldn’t be enough for everyone. Simple market economics. You can go after quality, but if people can’t afford it you’re shit out of luck. The best you can do is ensure there’s as few taxes, levies and as little red tape as possible for farmers to grow quality produce and sell to anyone who wants to buy.
