fwiw I think popular figures having coins is a good thing

community currencies that they can offer experiences, goods, opportunities - that burn that token  

actually does reward early fans (& speculators) in more ways when then one 

Maybe I buy $100 of $portnoy and when its worth $10000 - I can sell or maybe I can buy 1 of 5 passes to spend a week a barstool 

If I take the experience, it's net positive for holders because I reduce supply while getting a sick experience - which for the right person could be life changing
