so, a few more thoughts on this.

in the early days of my involvement in crypto, I worked for a DAO that collected photography nfts called RAW DAO. it was incubated by another DAO called Fingerprints which had/has one of the largest autoglyphs collections. interesting group of folks, founded by a few ex-goldman guys from brazil but that’s a story for another day.

one of the things that blew my mind was a system that the DAO used called coordinape. tldr; at the end of each month, members vote on who they feel deserves recognition for their work and they receive a corresponding % of a pre-defined budget. in other words, decentralized compensation.

I had so many fun conversations with friends about how cool this was. on the surface it was purely merit-based and at that time I was disillusioned by the academic system that paid me like shit as a professor despite putting in long hours. (1/2)

hi niloofar! first of all, I’m sorry. you got grouped into a screenshot that obviously was incorrect in your case.

second, I never called your account low-quality. the behaviour I’m discussing in this post: https://warpcast.com/matthewb/0x6a43a082 and the one it’s quoting is groups of accounts that make agreements to like/comment on each other’s content. it’s pretty inauthentic behaviour imo and I think we can do better, rewards or otherwise.

this clearly isn’t something that you are doing, and I regret making you feel like you did something wrong when you didn’t. so for that I’m also sorry.

Yesterday, I got shocked when I saw your screenshot and the cast really ruined my day seeing my account being grouped in a "fake" or even "inauthentic" category. 
You know, I've been thinking for a while about how I can interact with people in a meaningful way and make new friendships beyond making money here
Because Farcaster has been my happy place from the very first day of my activity, last year. I've made a lot of incredible friendships, particularly with my fellow artists, and the community is valuable to me. 
I see your concern and always wondered how the algo works that puts some skeptical accounts on the higher rank, but sadly "farming" has always been a thing in web 3 and I hope Farcaster teams do their best for sorting this out in a fair way.
