spent at least an hour today adjusting my espresso distribution tool’s needle lengths in order to accommodate 24g baskets… so, in case you think your spouse is insane, this is what @brileigh puts up with.

haha 18g is standard at cafes these days, I use 20g at home. 24g is pretty niche, haven’t really got it dialed in yet but I suspect it’ll work nicely with darker roasts. 28g is the final boss, untested so far.

Hahah very aware of baskets and shot doses. 20 at home is def sweet spot. People on that 18 really just trying to carve some profit out at the end of the year. They like to talk that it’s optimal for dial in but really trying to carve out those pennies on year end. Love the set up! Keep going! Love to hear how those 28g shots taste one dayyy

haha meant no disrespect, didn’t want to assume that everyone knows this type of niche espresso stuff. so far experiments with the 24g aren’t going well, getting a lot of channeling so not sure if the needle length on the distribution tool needs more tweaking or what’s up.

Haha all 💕 More coffee can = more resistance, harder for consistency of pressure / water flow. higher risk of uneven saturation, any smaller problems magnified, but a fun journey, enjoying the process 🤠 always on the hunt for those juicy shots
