I have to admit, in the last few years being full time web3, I’m really disappointed with how we have failed to produce meaningful projects that have gone mainstream. At most, featured articles in newspapers. But that’s it. Otherwise, it’s mainly insular projects servicing a dwindling or lackadaisical audience.

to what degree do you think this is an issue of where funding is focused? seems like most investors want to fund infra and defi, as if that is what will make the space go mainstream

I dont think it’s bad those efforts are being made, they need to be. But I also am not sure we can just lay the blame on VC’s. There was a lot of aspiration from 2021-2022, with the NFT craze, etc. but all of that has fallen flat. I don’t think one NFT project has pierced through outside wallet savvy investors.
