why are ppl still posting in personal channels? i get it w ones like /six or /july that have evolved into subcultures (which is very cool). but what’s the point if it’s just you?

probably the same reason people have been maintaining personal blogs for decades :) not everyone wants a personal blog, but some do want a place on the internet to serve as their digital diary or home to their thoughts

nah, FC profile is representative of a more holistic digital identity including how I contribute to other communities, etc. since all root casts show up there. my personal channel is where i can curate my own thinking, exclusive or unique to me. kinda like someone’s substack profile vs substack newsletter page.

I'm not against the idea of distinct personal publications, I used to have one myself. but I still don't see the point if it's going to be the same branding and vibe as the user's own profile

agree but i don’t think it has to be? there’s more customization with a channel page than a profile page atm so can have distinct branding and vibe, right?

totally agree, expressing our identities in different ways is great and I hope ppl do more of it. I am just commenting on what I see in the feed right now.

one thing that would be really cool is to have channels with 2-3 ppl, like a mesh of two people's profiles into one distinct vibe. that I have not seen at all AFAIK, but would be cool
