Let's just say Apple had chosen to build a search engine themselves instead of sell the distribution to Google. Do you think they'd still let you use other search engines?

I think the $20B a year with zero cost they get paid by Google is a much better deal

plot twist: Apple did choose to build a search engine themselves — spotlight and safari autocomplete function as their own search engines. i’ve been using spotlight more and more across all my devices because it searches web + my own phone (across all apps and the content of all apps). excited to see what they do

Apple won't let me use a universal standard to charge my phone. Use a different search engine? The phone would probably brick itself if I tried.

If the internet can be accessed it’ll be really hard to censor websites imo, what Apple can do is prevent native apps like Siri from using Google They can hurt but not disable completely
