Nah. For the same reason they won’t make a car. Much more profitable for them to make just the valuable “smart” part and let everyone else deal with the complex supply chain and commodification.

Apple has organizational paralysis in these markets because their strategy is to make the one definitive form factor — the one phone, the one laptop, etc. They don't like being in markets that require a diversity of SKUs for different use cases, aesthetics, ergonomics, or functional needs.
