I planted this red-flowering currant plant (native to Oregon) as a single twig last fall, and now it’s blossoming.

I also set out my mason bee house and cocoons today, so they should start emerging later today/tomorrow as it warms up.

I think so too! They can grow to be quite unruly though, so you have to stay on top of pruning them or they’ll become massive and messy looking.

I love this time of year. It’s so grey and colorless in Portland during the winter, and then all the sudden there’s an explosion of color and floral scents. It’s amazing (unless you have really bad allergies).

Beautiful! Not quite here in my hemisphere. Looking forward to these signs of spring, soon.

i loveee this plant. we get so many different species along the west coast and the fruit are delicious 😋
