For publishing with a publishing house: there’s the edit cycles followed by review cycles, followed by press cycles et al. 

Printing, press tour, scheduling talks/events/full travel plan (book clubs, podcasts, audiences, media)

review side: first copy/gallows are sent months earlier and getting earlier reviews to add to the book (you’ll see it at those quotes at the back of each book ) when it’s published. there’s also reviews for the booktok/bookstagram side 

then the actual printing cycle, international is more logistics to add on

i used to run a media company and we often worked with publishing houses and authors when they had press tours and book releases/launches. 

i’ve also reviewed a book + written a chapter in another, so that’s how i’m familiar with it 😄
