day 420 asking when someone will dev a funding mechanism a la Gitcoin/Octant (that works) *specifically* for capital C Creators and not allow it to get diseased by allowing crypto apps, DAOs, chains, etc. but individuals only.

Tagging @mashal @statuette because I feel like you’re among the few who really get why something like this is needed. Would love to know if you’ve come across anyone building this or working on something similar.

Hiii. Sorry my DMs have been so flooded so I'm constantly playing catchup. With v1 of Octant, it's been all about funding open-source projects or those building in Ethereum. We've funded communities (boarderless devs, kernel), programs (funding the commons), apps (Tor browser, revokecash), and lots of ETH projects. To fund creators and individuals, is our Growth Fund. That's what I'd first DM-d you about! We've worked with tons of creators specifically through this. With v2, we're launching a protocol so ecosystems can bring their treasury to v2 and use Defi to fund their ecosystems, creators, and active contributors. An automatic part of this is a small % (or more if the ecosystem wants) goes to funding Ethereum's impactful projects (bcz they are legit always fighting for grants/funds/ and worried about sustainability. Now, the part about funding creators. If it's an ecosystem or project with funding the q is why should the fund creators? (ofc i think EVERY team should have a creators fund (cotd)

Now, the part about funding creators. If it's an ecosystem or project with funding the q is why should the fund creators? Ofc i think EVERY team should have a creators fund and I did a thread about this on X a few days ago. But re creators and what we can do about it at octant, we do partner funding rounds all the time. we recently funded a design hackathon and an ETH brand hackathon. we're also funding rhizome for microgrants (this is alpha as we're announcing soon). We've had a creators round on our wishlist for a while but didn't really get a pitch for it from anyone. If you want to run a funding round for creators, hmu and we can chat about it. We're always open to ideas, but w a limited team capacity trying to do a mil things, it can sometimes take time to execute what we wanna see being done <3

I get it. That was when I was working on the Ethereum magazine. The problem is we need resources to pull in creators who aren't focused on creating crypto content. Why is every project so afraid to or neglectful of supporting non-crypto content? Crypto is so unbelievably outnumbered for creators who need or want funding who primarily use other platforms and are failing to meet their needs to just be their creative selves without having to cater to "builders" or devs or now "vibe coders" or caring about the growth of Ethereum but want to utilize the abilities of new, better funding mechanisms.
