At Gamescom, it was announced that Dying Light: The Beast will be released on Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation, and Xbox as a standalone game. The release date is still unknown, but I predict it will likely come out next year. The reason for this is that according to Techland officials, Dying Light: The Beast was initially planned as a DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. However, story leaks prompted the developers to reconsider, and making the first game's hero, Kyle Crane, the protagonist of this game as well provided a fresh perspective and great inspiration. Dying Light: The Beast will offer over 18 hours of gameplay, and if you already own Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition, you'll get this game for free. If you don't own Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition, you can still get this game by purchasing this edition or upgrading your standard version with the Ultimate Upgrade before September 30th. -->

If you haven't played any game in the series before, this standalone game is built on the series' foundations, and since the hero is stepping into a new world after captivity, everything new to you will be new to him as well. For those familiar with the series, I should mention that pre-orders haven't opened yet. However, let me draw your attention to one detail: the redness in Crane's eyes in the trailer and the way he shifts into "Beast Mode" in the demo shown at Gamescom give us a hint of what we can expect.
