it feels like social media platforms (like political parties) have been populated mostly based on what type of trauma everyone has rather than anything positive—like people are just going where they’ll be the least triggered because they all mostly avoid talking about the same things not sure about here. to me farcaster feels way more positive and constructive than anywhere else online

what type of trauma/dysfunction do you think is most prevalent on each platform? this is the vibe i get but idk x - toxic masculinity/daddy issues ig - low self worth/perfectionism threads - victim mindset fb - narcissism bluesky - freeze/fawn/people pleasing??? farcaster - ??? not sure yet, we are probably all just perfect and awesome here likely an unhinged take because not everyone on social media is mentally ill (maybe just 70-99%) but it does occasionally feel tiresome to go on a platform and see most people reenacting the same childhood traumas over and over (incl myself heh) and sometimes self-reflection is good

Oh, Farcaster definitely has a trauma/dysfunction type. It often manifests as distraction (from painful thoughts), usually via idealism ("crypto solves this"), over-working ("just keep shipping"), and FOMO ("generational wealth"). A fair few of the users here are "whistling past the graveyard," so to speak.

definitely distraction for all social media… yes to idealism and overworking. i don’t think i spend much time with the fomo crowd but that makes sense too maybe a general way to describe the vibe here is ptsd
